"What if I took up a music course in college?" This is one of the many "what ifs" in my life. I love music and I had lots of fun singing and playing the piano when I was younger. I have little formal training because my parents could not afford the lessons and I don't hate them for that. As young as I was then, I already knew I couldn't make a living with music.

But hearing my boy compliment my singing made me re-think and remember this "what if." People compliment my singing but it's a different feeling when I heard it from Rap. He said I should've been a singer and I should've joined singing contests to get famous. I told him that he will be the one to continue that dream. That's why we enroll him in in piano and voice lessons while we can still afford it. I think he has a better future in music than me.

My son performed with the school choir in Oakwood Premier Joy Nostalg last night. We were so happy with this year's Christmas caroling because the boys showed great improvement in their singing. Well, I still have to process the videos before I can upload it here.

My favorite worship song nowadays is Laura Story's Blessings. I haven't really sung it in church yet but I got to hear it over at Jango radio and immediately fell in love with it. It really hit me right on the spot; that even the things that I've branded as bad are blessings in disguise.


Earlier, I asked Rap to try to learn to play this song on the piano. But I might just bribe him with a guitar gadget so that he'll play this for me. For now, I'll have to be contented listening and watching this YouTube video.

Are you rooting for Jessica Sanchez on American Idol Season 11? I do and it's not because she's has Filipino blood but because she definitely is the best. Now that she's in the Top 3, more and more Filipinos are getting excited to see her win.

It's a bittersweet day for me today as I watched the finale of American Idol Season 9. Everyone knows for a fact that I was rooting for Mama Sox to win the competition. From the start, I have always been a fan of Crystal Bowersox since Day 1 of her American Idol journey. She is so talented and was definitely in a league of her own. Nevertheless, I wasn't too surprised that the 24-year old paint salesman, Lee DeWyze, won the American Idol title this year.

This is the 3rd straight year that a male AI contestant won. Not to mention that the male winners have the "matinee idol" appeal being good-looking and all that. To me, it appears that American Idol voters in the States may be teenage girls or mostly women who found Lee DeWyze cute enough to vote for. I believe this is the same reason why Casey James made it to the 3rd spot.

But in fairness, Le DeWyze really improved a lot throughout the season. Crystal Bowersox's musical genius sure is higher by a mile compared to that of Lee's but Lee slowly and diligently worked his way to the top. Who doesn't love an underdog, anyway? And besides, I'm sure that Crystal will still make it big in the music industry, just like how Adam Lambert is doing now.

Ok, gotta go back to work on my apidexin reviews. What do you think? Did America make the wise choice this time?

I admit. I am still in shock that the Tender Puppy actually won this season's American Idol. I mean, judging from last night's perfomances, Simon Cowell did have a point when he said that Adam Lambert won over Kris Allen by a mile!

But this is one of those popularity contests, so... there.

In fairness to Kris Allen, I still think that he deserved to be where he is now. Throughout the competition, he has showed how a well-rounded musician he is. While Adam wowed the audience with his many surprises, Kris was able to gain admirers by not being confined to his guitar but also playing good music with keyboard. I also read that he plays the viola. Probably, that's an edge that he has from Adam aside from having really good looks.

I also think that American Idol voters, once again, got confident that Adam might win the competition after all that they didn't bother to vote at all. Also, Danny Gokey's fans might have rooted for Kris Allen instead of Adam Lambert.

American Idol is just their first step to global stardom. We had American Idols whose stars never shone as bright as those of Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwoood, and David Cook. We also had runner-ups like Chris Daughtry who did not need the grand title to establish a spot in the music industry, right? Last year's American Idol, David Cook, and his runner-up, David Archuleta are both doing great in their own music genres. Let's just see what the future has in store for Kris Allen and Adam Lambert.

I'm not being mushy today. I was just thinking of what to write today and I remembered that it's Friday.

They often say that chocolate is the best happy food there ever is. That's why we often watch in movies girls eating chocolates while crying their hearts out to their girlfriends about their latest break-up. Not for me. Maybe because I know I can't eat chocolate because of my unpredictable blood sugar level.

Music for me is chocolate. I don't know about you but it's been the ultimate anti-depressant for me. I have two happy songs that I play loud on my Ipod every time I get the blues. First is "Automatic" by Utada Hikaru and "Friday I'm In Love" by The Cure. These two songs lift my spirits up when I hear them. Both songs are upbeat and I can't help but dance to them.

I remember being in love with "Automatic" way back in college. I can't even understand a single word except "it's automatic" in the song because it's in Japanese. But the melody and tempo got me. Just recently, thanks to the magic of the internet, I was able to download the lyrics (with translation)of the song. It is really a happy song. It tells about the magical feeling of being in love. That the happy feeling comes automatically once you see and hear the one you love. This has become one of Rap's favorites, too along with Utada Hikaru's other song "First Love".

"Friday I'm In Love" goes way back in my elementary days. I loved it then but got to forget about it soon enough. Daddyjun's eighties themed Christmas party made me listen to it again and remember the happy days I had back then. I've had it in my Ipod since December and I have no plans of removing it from my playlist.
