What happened to my Wii Fit Challenge

I know, I know... I started a personal challenge that I wasn't able to keep up with. But hey, see my right sidebar? The widget is still there which means that I'll still be doing it once my workload becomes lighter.

Since it's been more than a month of me not being on the board, I'd probably need a kymaro body shaper so that I can decently sport a dress on my birthday. But as the Facebook fan page says, fat people can be thin but ugly people can't be pretty, hahaha! I'd go with fat. What about you?

When Was The Last Time You Had A Real Good Laugh?

I had one last night.

My bedroom's facing the afternoon sun. Naturally, when afternoons are sunny and hot, the room is transformed into a big oven with its hot walls. We had that kind of afternoon yesterday so we had the airconditioner running the whole afternoon in our room while my boys took a nap. I thought that it helped cool down the bedroom walls and we would not need the airconditioner at night. My husband thought otherwise.

Lights are out and we were already lying down when he thought of turning the airconditioner on. He groped for the lamp's switch but apparently it wasn't plugged in. I volunteered to use my phone's light so he could see the switch of the airconditioner. I reached underneath my pillow, where I usually place my phone, but I failed to find it. I go: "Teka, ilawan mo muna ako para makita ko yung cellphone ko." I can imagine my husband's puzzled look even in the dark. I suddenly remembered that it was me who was supposed to provide the light! Silly me! I was laughing my heart out that I can't even remember how I fell asleep.

Hay! Simple things make me laugh all the way. How about you?

A Habit To Break

I have a confession to make. I have this compulsion that bugs me every night. I do not remember when this started but, now that it's interfering with my sleep, I feel alarmed. What happens is, for several nights now, my brain wakes me up from my REM sleep and commands me to get up and check my wallet. Once I see the our ATM cards and my credit card present in the pockets, I can go back to sleep again. Sometimes, I do not even bother to turn the lights on. Just to feel the cards is enough to make me feel secure. It's weird, no? Guess I'm just paranoid of credit card fraud and us losing money.

To control this compulsion, I had to make a reminder on my phone for me to check my wallet before lying down in bed. There were nights when I still got up to check even though I already did before lying down. Hopefully, one night at a time, this compulsion will stop and I will have a truly restful sleep.

Globe G-Cash

I know that Globe G-Ccash has been introduced already in the mobile banking world a few years back but I have just done my first ever transaction today. I'm so happy I saw the Globe Menu again when I put my Globe sim in the Sim 1 part of my dual sim phone. Hahaha... yun lang pala yun. I finally remembered that I have a G-Cash account pala! I also enrolled my BPI Account to the mobile banking facility. Haha! Rap and I went to SM City Taytay today and I dropped by the Globe Business Center to make a cash-in transaction to my account. Tomorrow, I will try to use the money to buy load wallet from Load Central.

Friday Hell Day @ LTO Cainta

Sitti (our Honda City) is scheduled to be registered this May (btw, we call our Tucson, Black Beauty). We will be spending Ralph's birthday week in Naga so Dadijun filed a leave of absence for today and we TRIED to register Sitti as planned. I scheduled my driver's license application today to somehow make the day more fruitful. And, yes, sad to say, I also TRIED but to no avail.

The night before, I printed downloaded forms from the LTO website so that I will not need to ask for a form from this satellite office. We went to LTO, which was a few minutes drive away from home, and at exactly 8 am we had the car undergo emission testing. The car had to be parked rear first because they had to take a picture of its rear. I think this is a new procedure.

I left Dadijun and proceeded to the drug testing and medical examination center that was just next door. I paid 350 pesos for the drug testing and medical examination package. They gave me a small bottle to fill with my urine. In ten minutes, the results were ready. Bilis no? Ganun lang po yun, magic magic lang! Hehehe!

I went outside to find Dadijun paying for the TPL that costed us 750 pesos. Then we exited the facility only to find out that there is a parking fee. @#$% talaga! Paano kaya mag-emission testing na walang kotse? Pwede ba yun? So, no choice for the poor car owner but to enter the facility at an additional 30 pesos. I was still laughing a bit about the irony. We made a u-turn to enter the LTO premises and paid, yep you read it right... PAID, an additional 30 pesos parking fee. Isa nanamang malaking katangahan ng gobyerno ito! Syempre, no choice again but to enter kasi nga magi-inspect at magsi-stencil ng car di ba! @#$#% agen!

Dadijun and I parted ways again so I can proceed with my DL application. Armed with my downloaded filled up form, I went straight to Window 9 as the published step-by-step procedure instructed me to do so. Hala! Pila to death pala ang drama. At least there were chairs to sit on while waiting. As I sat at the last chair, the man who was ahead of me looked at my documents and told me to check if they will accept my form. His was taken from the LTO officer near the door. I asked the guard and confirmed that they cannot accept the printout. If I were in a fighting mood this morning, I could have challenged him about the purpose of LTO putting a downloadable form in its website. But, I reminded myself that I am an educated person and he was just doing his job. So I sat down at the last chair to fall in line for the form. Kukuha lang ng form ha, nakapila pa. Patawa talaga! There were around 50 applicants ahead of me. I looked at the Lecture Room and saw that the written and practical exams schedules were 930am and 130pm. Tamang-tama lang. So I thought... After 10 years of waiting (well, it felt like it!) a man was just ahead of me in the line. Then, a lady announced over the loud speaker that Window 9 will not be accepting DL applications anymore since the cut-off for the exams has been reached. Patawa talaga! @#$% kakatawang buhay 'to oo! When the time came for me to get the form, I was reminded by the employee about the cut-off and that he wouldn't give me the damn form anymore. Monday na lang daw. Monday niya mukha niya, he unleased the tiger in me. Amp! Gusto kong kalbuhin ang #$% @#$% yun eh. This was the conversation as I remember...

LTO Employee: Ma'am narinig niyo naman po siguro ang announcement na cut-off na po for written and practical exams.

ME: (pa-cute pa) Opo, sir. Sayang nga po eh, kinulang ng oras.

LTO Employee: Balik na lang po kayo sa Monday (giving me my SP and test results back without the ADL form).

(ini-spell pa ha, kala yata tatanga tanga ako) w...w...w...dot..b..i..r..dot..g..o..v..dot..ph.

(Sabay walk-out! Hmp! Itsura!)

In short, I didn't bother to stay there anymore and I went to the area where Dadijun was waiting for his form which was in the Evaluator's window. That was just Step 2 at 9 in the morning. Lunchtime came and our forms were still with the Evaluator. Fixers came and continuously gave the evaluator more forms that made ours move to the bottom. It was not a first-come, first-served basis. Money talks, in other words. The fixers and the evaluator are on a first name basis. Nagbibiruan pa nga. We even overheard the fixer saying "Pahinging print-out" and the Evaluator replied "Pahinging siopao." Kapal no! Konting kilabot naman! We ate our lunch at one of the small carinderias inside the LTO office. Ang mahal kaya, 130 pesos lahat just for 2 rice, 2 ulam, and 2 softdrinks.

After lunch, we went back to the motor vehicle registration area. A lot of people came back by 1pm. The fixers were in full force, too! She said to her client in a loud voice "Ako bahala diyan!" Grabe talaga, sing kapal ng make-up niya ang mukha niya. By 3pm we decided to pull out our forms because we knew that it was impossible for the Evaluator to even take a peek at it. Umilalim na lalo eh. The fixers were submitting documents to him in brown envelopes! One fixer heard me complaining and had the nerve to say "Dapat pinaayos niyo na lang.". I shot a dagger look at him and said "Ayoko magpalakad kasi dadami ang tulad niyo."

So, I called up my mom and asked her about the vehicle registration that Greenwoods Executive Village provides for its residents. It's on Sunday na so tamang-tama lang. We will just bring our emission test results and tpl form. Dagdag lang daw 350 for service charge. Ok na rin yun. My mom's car was registered thru this before and wala naman naging problem. Kaya lang syempre, the sticker and OR will be given on Tuesday pa yata. At least di na kami mahirapan. We were planning sana to go to LTO Makati that has, in our experience, the most efficient LTO employees and zero fixers. Naka-aircon pa. I remembered the last time Dadijun had his license renewed, the LTO staff even called him up on his cellphone to inform him that the card is ready for pick-up. Now, that's what I call government service. Eh sa LTO Cainta we felt that our taxes were not working for us. Hmp! I will just go back to Socialite and ask Ms. Nora to handle my ADL application for 1800 pesos. At least good for 3 years na and the renewal is more easier. I had my SP done by them and it was all a breeze. Pero 2x naman ng actual fee. Ok na rin. Kaya pala we had to go to LTO Binangonan pa eh mas malapit ang Cainta.

Ayun, umuwi kaming luhaan! We just headed straight to Robinson's Cainta and had Ube Macapuno Ice Craze (yummy!) at Jollibee pampalamig ng ulo. Then I had my groceries done. I even saw one of the fixers walking inside the mall. I can draw all of their faces from memory, talagang tinandaan ko. I know there are other Filipinos like me who have undergone the same ordeal. Nakakahiya. Nakakalungkot.

Sosyal!

I got my hair rebonded yesterday. And it just cost me less than 2000 bucks! Haha! Lucky me no? My hair's 4 inches below my shoulder so it is really cheap. Not to mention that it came with tinted cellophane treatment ha.

There's a small salon just outside our village gate. It's Alee Benson's salon. Actually, it's just a branch because their main salon is in Rennaisance condominium in Ortigas. Alee's house is just near the salon kasi. Their treatments and preparations are the same with the main branch kaya lang cheaper kasi mura lang ang rent nila sa place. They used Sebastian on my hair. Hay naku, if your're just near Cainta Junction sa kanila ka na lang. Lahat ng services nila I highly recommend. I'm lucky nga that I just walk to get there.

So I went in around 1230 in the afternoon. It was raining hard outside kaya feel ko talagang walang pila sa parlor. Lagi kasi puno ng tao lalo pag weekend. 4pm na natapos ang rebonding session namin. Landa cut my hair again to give it some layers. Ayoko kasi ng masyadong flat ang hair. Si Landa, btw, when he cuts, parang possessed. Ala Edward Scissorhands, I hope you can picture out what I mean. Bongga!

BC S BC CN B

Now I know how busy one is when one is busy. Ang gulo no? Super busy. Uber Busy. Toxic. Aaaaarggggh! I am tired and I am starting to get sick but I am enjoying every minute of it.

By tomorrow we're moving out of this apartment that's been our abode for a year and will be living in our new home. It's ours! Sa wakas, natapos din. After all the problems and the conflicts with our @#$%^ developer, we'll be moving in at last. But it's all in the past now. What matters now is that the house is finished and beautiful as me! Hehehe!

I have also started teaching since the 16th of April. Mama and I started our tutorial center at Greenwoods. I am the sole teacher at the moment as we offered summer reading classes in the village. Come June, I'll be working with Ate Do, Lloyd, and Lucky (who will be taking up Education to our mother's delight!). We will also be offering Toddler Classes. I'll be the one to handle the Toddlers and the day tutorials. Lloyd will be teaching Math and Ate Do will be on night shift. I'll post pictures of my cute classroom when time permits.

Oh well, got to stop my fingers from typing. Got to finish packing!

So excited!

Somebody's so excited... of course, it's me!

It's Friday tomorrow. That means its Daddyjun's rest day and we're going to visit the house again. Construction has already started. We expect the house to be finished by late March. Come second week of April, we can move out of our apartment and in to our new home.

That's our cute little house up there. Small but it's big enough for us. Well, for us people and not for all of our things. There's the big sliding door at the side facing the patio. I plan to convert the patio to a mini-garden cum dining area. My dining table is so big it will not leave enough space for the cook to move around the kitchen area. Maybe I can bring the kitchen area outside, too. Hmm... nice idea!

Anyway, Mama Babes will be sending back her furnitures to her house in Naga. I will be sending the extra bed and cabinet and some of my knick knacks to our bedroom at my parents' place.

Speaking of my parents' place...

Seems I will be spending more time there soon. First, our house will be nearer. Second, we'll be starting our playschool. I'll be teaching again, this time in our own school. Mama is busy now with the construction of the commercial area in our place. I asked her not to rent out the first floor but instead reserve it for me. Ate Do and I initially planned to operate a tutorial center. I will specialize in Reading, she in Science, and Lloyd in Math. Mama got so excited and thought of offering a Toddlers Class starting June. Naturally, I will be the one to teach since I'm the one who has the experience in pre-school. We'll start this April, after Holy Week. We're offering Refresher/Remedial Reading Programs, Arts and Crafts class, and Toddler Playschool. Oh, before I forget, we will be also offering Piano Lessons for kids since Lucky is in summer vacation and he wants a summer job.

Internet Connection Slowdown

I have been experiencing a slow internet connection since Dec. 26, 2006. The earthquake that hit Taiwan that day damaged undersea cables which, in turn, greatly affected internet users in the Philippines. From what I heard, majority of the affected are PLDT DSL subscribers. Unlucky me. I can't post pictures yet. I'm running slower than a dial-up! :(

Do They Know Its Christmas?

I'm done with my Christmas shopping as early as the last week of November. I wrapped the gifts and neatly tucked them under the Christmas tree. The first morning of December, I received text messages from Ate Cel in Naga City about the damages Typhoon Reming brought them. They are still lucky that the canopy in the front yard was the only part of the roof damaged and not the roof of the entire house. She also informed us that the vinyl window covers of the multicab were ripped. Up to this day, they still do not have electricity. They are already expecting their worst Christmas to date. It will be indeed a Black Christmas.

I've been convincing them to spend Christmas here in Makati with us as they have last year. She insisted on staying there. She has been depressed lately and its taking its toll on her health. Even a short travel to the city's centro makes her suffer from shortness of breath. I tell Daddyjun that its all psychological. The more she needs to be here in Manila to relax. She can't relax in Naga with all the damages of the typhoon evident. I'm still convincing her and the whole family to come over. I wish that the children be spared from experiencing a sad Christmas. Mama rushed to Naga last Wednesday to help them. We extended financial help.

The same day, I watched the news about the mudflow in Albay and panic struck me. I got relatives is Daraga and Guinobatan. We spent our summer vacations there when we were still kids. The last time I visited the place was when my Lola died. I wish they're safe. I still haven't heard from my aunts and cousins yet.

Last night, I went to the wake of Mel's dad. She narrated how his dad spent his last minutes of life in the ICU. She told me how she wished so hard that he would go after Christmas. Not last Tuesday. Makalipas man lang daw sana ang Pasko. I felt sad for her.

I was listening to my RX 93.1 while doing my daily morning brisk walk. I exercise regularly now. I already lost ten pounds since Nov. 23. But I will share these details on a separate post.

Anyway, back to the radio. Chico and Delamar played "Do They Know It's Christmas" and it got me thinking about so many things. I've been busy lately with errands like shopping and wrapping gifts and organizing our family reunions (both my mom's and dad's side of the family). I decorated my house early. Tried to spread the Christmas cheer at home. Even Daddyjun's so happy he can now afford a long vacation break so we can attend the Simbang Gabi and visit Policarpio Street and the COD Christmas display in Virra Mall. Rap is so excited about what he will be receiving from Santa. From tonight, I'll be busy attending Christmas parties here and there. We know it's Christmas. But what about the survivors in Bicol and Marinduque? What about Mel?

I survived MILENYO!

My goodness! This is the first time in years since I've last experienced a Signal No. 3 typhoon!
Typhoon Milenyo (international codename: Xangsane) is the strongest typhoon to directly hit Manila in 11 years. I remember the last one was Super Typhoon Rosing which was categorized under Signal No. 4.

If you're not in Manila, you will not be able to imagine the horror we've been through. Not to mention that we've just returned from Naga City a day before the typhoon struck the city. Yup, God really is good! We left Naga City last Monday night (Sept. 25) and arrived Tuesday morning in Manila. That Tuesday night, Naga City (and the whole of Bicol as well) was struck by this fierce typhoon. We can't get feedback from Mama and our other relatives in Naga, Albay, and Daet, Camarines Norte. I bet they still do not have electricity, phone connections, and cellphone signals. The last text I received from Mama was during lunchtime last Tuesday when she confirmed that she already received the passports I sent through courier. (Thank God the delivery was saved from the typhoon, too!) She also texted us about how bad the weather in Naga was. Then, that was it. I tried texting them today but still no response.

Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 27), the Dept. of Education announced that Thursday classes in all levels are suspended. During that time I felt the department was overreacting. It was a hot day, a little humid. It was dark but it was not raining.

Thursday morning (Sept. 28), it was raining hard. Daddyjun had to leave the car behind and commute to work because Pasong Tamo was already flooded. The rains started during the wee hours in the morning. He had to wear rubber sandals to work that day. I did my usual routine of checking my mails and my online classroom for announcements, etc. Daddyjun called and told me to prepare the flashlights, candles, transistor radio, etc. I also charged the cellphones and Ipod. The electricty began fluctuating around 9am. My DSL connection was acting funny, too. I shut the computer down around 10am.

Around 11am that day the wind blew harder. I had to shut the windows in our bedroom because the rain drops were coming in. The electricity was cut before lunchtime, Rap was excited to have lunch with me by candlelight. By 12 noon the horror started. We watched how the trees resisted the strong winds. There were flying metal sheets, flying tree branches, and plastics! The trapal that we used to cover our garage threatened to fly out, too! Jun and I went out to reinforce it with wires but the wires gave in in no time. Jun rolled it and crudely tied it up and we went inside the house. It was not safe to be outdoors. The flying tree branches were non-stop. It continued for about an hour and slowly died down until 2pm. That was the time when I was able to go outside the gate and see the damage the typhoon had done.

Everything was in havoc. A big ipil-ipil tree lay down on the street a few meters away from us. That was the reason why cars and tricycles had to go back and take another route towards Pasong Tamo. The big ilang-ilang tree of our front door neighbor had fallen branches. And they had to prune it afterwards. I called up Papa in Pasig and he told me that parts of our house's roof was damaged. Electricity was not restored until yesterday afternoon, that's about 26 hours of blackout in our place. We were luckier than most people in Luzon. In Pasig, the electricity was restored only this morning. The storm's over but, for people most affected by Milenyo, picking up the pieces is the hardest thing to do.

Our final exams that's supposed to be taken today is moved until next Saturday. Now, that gives me something to smile about.

Santa Claus Came To Town

Hehehe. I love the holiday season! Ang saya-saya talaga!

At last, napalitan na rin ang aking old (but reliable!) Nokia 3100. Three days ago, Daddy Jun (ang Santa Claus kong payatot) bought me a brand new Sony Ericsson K750i.

Galing 2.0 MP ang camera with flash, with Media Player pa. Saan ka pa? As in pwede na akong makinig ng mga mp3 files ko without using my iPod.

Ryan Racal

Nag-check ako ng friendster account ko. Member ako ng Racal Clan. Mama ko kasi is a Racal from Albay.

Contestant siya dun sa Search for a Star in a Million. Hmm... kamag-anak ba namin siya? Di ko alam. Eh in-add niya sarili niya eh, malamang nga. Pero paano nangyari yun? Taga-Cebu siya, Bicolano kami. I still have to figure this one out.

Sabagay, lahi talaga namin ang magaganda ang boses! Hehehehe...

My iPod Shuffle

Last night, I received an early birthday gift from Daddy Jun. Hehehe. Pero syempre di ako nagpahalatang excited!

Back to Reality

Last day of our 2-week mega vacation. 10 am na kami umalis ng Daet to Laguna. The road, this time around, is smoother. 7pm we reach Laguna Bel Air. Back to reality, so they say.
