Dieting? Don't forget your vitamins!

My month long weight loss challenge is almost done and we're scheduled for our final weigh in next week. Now on my fourth week, I have already lost 5 pounds thank goodness! I regularly took my C-lium Fibre, did the exercises (when I can, haha!), and cut my calorie intake. There's one thing I forgot to do though, and it's to take multivitamins. I've been sick these past few days which really surprised me because I seldom go down with the flu.

Cortal SQR for the safest and quickest relief

I remember Cortal from way back when I was younger but it was gone in the market for a while. It now makes a comeback as Cortal SQR that has an advanced formulation combining Ibuprofen and Paracetamol. Muscoskeletal pain will be gone in as little as 15 minutes because Cortal SQR dissolves and is absorbed by the body faster. This ability to provide quick relief has made Cortal SQR the pain reliever of choice by no other than the Philippine National Football Team, the Azkals!

Cortal SQR offers relief for pain brought by joint pain, myalgia, arthritis, rheumatism, sprain, strain, bursitis, tendonitis, backache and stiff neck, among others. It can also be taken for fever, headache, dysmenorrhea, toothache, and post-operative pain. One may take 1 tablet of Cortal SQR every six hours or as prescribed by a doctor. Suggested retail price is Php 6.50 per tablet.

Cortal SQR used to be offered by GlaxoSmithKline Philippines, Inc. before Pharma-Rex, Inc. acquired it. Incorporated in March 25, 2010, Pharma-Rex, Inc. imports, manufactures, wholesales and trades ethical and over-the-counter pharmaceutical products.

Human Growth Hormone and Diabetes

Editing health entries for my wiki project led me to some researching about the human growth hormone (HGH), somatotropin. HGH is produced by the pituitary gland which is responsible for growth and muscle build up. Thus, it's but normal to read about athletes taking HGH supplements to aid them in getting rid of fat and developing their bodies.

One characteristic of somatrotropin that got my attention was the existence of research pointing to insulin resistance or even a rare form of Type 2 diabetes from too much HGH intake. However, I have also read an article about a Swedish endocrinologist claiming that his patients blood glucose levels improved after 6 months of HGH therapy. Then again, his patients initially suffered from insulin resistance in the early months of therapy. Meanwhile, a study apparently done at John Hopkins claim that the elderly may benefit from controlled HGH therapy.

It's still kind of a blur to me. Some of the articles available in the internet are just too complicated to read. My honest advise is always to consult your doctor and read hgh reviews first before trying anything. Diabetics cannot take risks.

Start Fresh with Dulcolax® (Bisacodyl)

Don't you know that there is a link between constipation and diabetes? Apparently, diabetics are more at risk of constipation. One factor for this is that high blood sugar levels have a damaging effect on the nerves of the intestinal walls. When these nerves are damaged, the natural regular movement of the bowels is interrupted. Not to mention that the various vitamins and maintenance meds taken daily can also affect bowel movement. If non-diabetics are already complaining abut how hard it is to have constipation, how much more for us diabetics?

This morning, Boehringer Ingelheim, makers of Dulcolax® (Bisacodyl), launched its Starting Fresh campaign with no other than singer/actress/comedienne Tuesday Vargas endorsing it. Tuesday has revealed to the press that she has this continuous bout with constipation. Being constipada affected her moods and she usually has a hard time appearing in her funny jolly self when she has not "moved."

Doctor Ivan Olegario, a product physician and a credible medical adviser, advised her to address the problem by doing the following:

  • drinking at least 8 glasses of water daily;
  • eating fibrous food such as vegetables, fruits, and whole grains;
  • exercising everyday to tone the internal organs and encourage normal bowel movements;
  • avoiding emotional and physical stress;
  • establishing and following a regular bowel movement routine; and,
  • taking 1-2 tablets of Dulcolax® (Bisacodyl)at night to promote bowel movement the following morning.

Tuesday followed the good doctor's advise and she's constipada no more. The good news is that she and the Dulcolax® (Bisacodyl) team will visit different barangays in and around the metro to spread the word about starting fresh with Dulcolax® (Bisacodyl).

Aside from that, the campaign will launch the Dulcolax® Freshserye mini-series on TV to educate more people about constipation. See the trailer in the video below:

There are no contraindications for diabetics taking Dulcolax® (Bisacodyl). However, it is still best to consult your doctor before taking this med.
