Weekend Snapshot: It's A Guy Thing

This Sunday, I am stuck at home withe my boys. I already did my errands yesterday because my husband specifically dedicated this day to just stay at home and watch Manny Pacquiao knockdown Ricky Hatton. And boy, he did that in two rounds! Made me so proud to be Pinoy!

Weekend Snapshot: Pizza, Pasta, and Gelato!

My family spent the whole Sunday in SM Megamall. It was part of the R&R that we planned for the Big Boy to lessen his stress. He wanted to hear mass in a church that he has not visited before while I did not want to go somewhere without airconditioning in this hot weather. The mall is just a perfect compromise for us. My husband promised to bring us to Amici for lunch and we were excited. It was like coming back to one of my favorite places in the world, except that the one where we went was just a branch.

When Ralph was still studying in Don Bosco Makati, I used to spend the whole afternoon waiting for him in Amici di Don Bosco. The place was run by Salesian priests and the name actually means "Friends of Don Bosco" in Italian. I remember Amici to be a place of warmth and simplicity although it can be quite busy during lunch time. The Italian food and gelato they serve was affordable and delicious. Back then in 2006, I have already heard from fellow Bosconian parents that the priests were selling the business. I think that they have investors and the business has expanded because of this.

Here's what we ordered for lunch yesterday:

Fruitti di Mare - Mixed Seafood Pizza

Roast Chicken - flavored with Rosemary

Cannelloni - filled with spinach

We also had gelati and a slice of Mango Tango but because I missed Amici's gelato so much, I totally forgot about taking shots!

The prices have gone up from what I remember back in the original place. But then, we just spent Php 760 for our orders including a 1.5L bottle of Coke Zero so it's not bad at all for a special Sunday treat with the family. The yumminess of the food has stayed. The ambiance has improved with the cushioned seats and warm lights but they still maintained their trademark chest freezer over the condiments section. You see, the customers need to get the utensils and condiments themselves. Inside the big chest freezer are the pitchers of water and ice cubes. Overall, the SM Megamall branch is the next best thing to being back in Amici Makati.

Weekend Snapshot: Welcoming Babies To The Christian World

Yesterday, my family helped welcome two babies to the Christian World. They were held in two separate places, not to mention that one is in the suburbs. We were lucky that traffic is not so bad during Sundays and the weather did cooperate well.

The first baby in the picture, Jarvih (pronounced as Harvey) is the son of Tina Villa-Ignacio Hernandez and her husband Jeff. Tina is a dear friend of ours, a former student of my husband in Ateneo de Naga, and a bridesmaid in our wedding eight years ago. We are so happy that she is finally a mommy! We made a mistake of not attending the dedication ceremony in Greenbelt Makati though. We did not know that my husband was one of the godfathers. We left home early but had to pass by the bookstore and the department store to buy Ralph's book and another gift for the other baby's baptism. Look at Jarvih. Seems like he's not yet ready to forgive his Ninong for not attending the ceremony.

The other baby in the photo is a niece of ours. She is Keighlah Angelique, the daughter of my husband's cousin, Mok. We were not able to attend the baptismal rites in the church but we made it to the reception that was held in a private pool resort near their home in Biñan, Laguna. We were happy to see my husband's relatives and Ralph got to do some laps in the pool. We stayed for around two hours before we headed back to Manila. I had to do the groceries before we go home.

That was how my busy weekend went this week. How about yours?

Weekend Snapshot: East Meets West

My family and I were invited to a Saturday Barbecue and Family Day at Nuvo City Lifestyle Center in Libis, Quezon City. It was an Open House of sorts for Nuvo City's Aspire tower. The building will be another addition to the roster of luxury high-rise residential flats in the area. We were privileged to visit the Studio, 1 bedroom, and 2bedroom model units. All I can say is that it is ultimate city living with style. Nuvo City envisions a commercial and residential community right in the corner of C5 and Calle Industria. The part of the huge property (that is, from Shopwise to the corner of Calle Industria) facing C5 will be the commercial areas. As I remember, there will be three residential towers that will rise in the area and Aspire is one of them.

I have been to the Nuvo City Lifestyle Center way back in December of last year when we did our bazaar hopping for Christmas gifts. Last Saturday, the area where the bazaar was set up months ago was transformed into kiddie party place. The theme was "East Meets West" since we were having a Western Barbecue Party with a Chinese Buffet. And since it was a Family Day, the kids were treated to games and other activities while the adults go around visiting the model units. A dragon dance was performed in lieu of the Chinese New Year.

Feel free to view my other weekend snapshot here.

Weekend Snapshot: Ouch!

This weekend, Ralph and I had our annual physical exam thanks to our health provider. We had the usual routine of urine and fecal analysis, complete blood count, xray, and medical check-up. I did not expect my son to get teary-eyed when he had his blood test. The last one he had when he got sick a few months ago went fine. He did not even notice the prick on his finger. This time, he was a bit hysterical and I had to hug him tight so he won't move.

After the check-up, we proceeded to SM Marikina for our weekly grocery shopping. I love doing my grocery shopping at SM Supermarket because of the fresh seafood and meat that is readily available. I don't go to the public wet market, you see. I tried their salad bar and assembled a garden salad tray that became our siding for the Fried Chicken we had for dinner. This tray only cost me Php 64 (a little more than a dollar). It's complete with different kinds of lettuce, yellow and green bell peppers, carrots, cucumbers, and tomatoes. I just wished that they had available cherry tomatoes instead of these big ones.

Weekend Snapshot: Ready For Christmas!

I spent the whole weekend wrapping all the gifts and rearranging the furnitures in the living room to highlight our tree. My husband's relatives from Naga are coming over for the holidays that's why I needed to finish all the shopping and wrapping tasks before they arrive. We will be accompanying them around town for the duration of their stay.

Weekend Snapshot: Playtime!

It has been a while since the last time I let my son play in a game arcade. When he got his PSP last year ( a prize for his good grades), he lost interest in playing games in the arcade. This weekend, as I left him with my sister in her shop in the mall while I did my Christmas shopping. My sister is his godmother so he was able to get a part of his early Christmas loot and used the cash to buy tokens in the arcade. He had a good time collecting prizes and tickets from the games and machines that he played.

Weekend Snapshot: How Busy My Big Boy Was This Weekend

My first weekend snapshot entry. Actually, I'm posting 2 photos today because we have been so busy this weekend. Last Saturday, we attended the Coca-Coca Kiddie Christmas Party at the Rockwell Tent and come Sunday, Ralph had his first ever Taekwondo meet at the Marikina Sports Center. Enjoy viewing!
