Glee The 3D Concert Movie (Rated GP) Showing For Two Weeks Only

Calling all Gleeks! (I know I am!) We only have two weeks to catch the whole gang sing their hearts away in Glee The 3D Concert Movie. Created by Ryan Murphy, Glee touched the hearts of kids, teens, and adults alike with the realistic way it depicted the issues that teenagers face in life. I'm already a mom to a tween and my boy and I watched the entire two seasons together. That's how addicted to Glee we are so just imagine our excitement to catch the 3D concert movie.

I'm so glad to know that it's rated General Patronage (GP) by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) so I can still get to watch with my boy just like at home. The movie was even found to be a “wholesome concert on people who feel comfortable about themselves with poignant life stories and issues that allow and encourage people to be more tolerant of one another; issues like dwarfism, having asperger’s syndrome, being gay, wearing glasses, being physically disable and the like. An excellent concert movie that is suitable for children and adults, abled and disabled, straight and gay, big and small.”

Glee The 3D Concert Movie was filmed during their tours so viewers can also see how the fans went gaga over the whole cast. Members belted out their signature ballads, show tunes, and pop songs including include Paul McCartney’s Silly Love Songs, Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream and Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’ which was Glee’s first hit.

Exclusively released in 3D digital screens by 20th Century Fox thru Warner Bros, Glee The 3D Concert Movie will open nationwide on September 21, 2011 for two weeks only in Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Bohol, Cagayan De Oro, Bacolod, GenSan, Tagbilaran, Pampanga, Angeles and Baguio.

Carey Mulligan stars in "Never Let Me Go"

We once saw Carey Mulligan in "An Education," a film where she had a breakout performance as a school girl seduced by an older man. The role had her nominated in the Academy Awards and consequently brought to her feet countless movie offers that she surprisingly turned down. However, "Never Let Me Go" was an opportunity that, according to the actress, is too good to pass up.

"Never Let Me Go" is the screen adaptation of the 2005 novel written by Kazuo Ishiguro. It tells of the story of 3 people who meet in a boarding school and develop a strong bond of friendship and love. But the students in the boarding school are no ordinary pupils because they are clones that were raised to become organ donors of the sick.

"Never Let Me Go" opens on March 2 exclusively in all Ayala Cinemas so better log on to www.sureseats.com to see check the sched and buy tickets. The movie is from 20th Century Fox and is distributed by Warner Bros.

Get Ready To Collapse While Watching “127 Hours"

Are you a fan of Danny Boyle and "Slumdog Millionaire?" Then, you'll surely be excited to watch "127 Hours" which is incidentally vying for Best Picture, Best Actor (James Franco) and Best Screenplay (Danny Boyle and Simon Beaufoy)in the Oscars.

"127 Hours" tells of the remarkable adventure of real-life mountaineeer Aaron Ralston who's played by James Franco (of "Eat, Pray, Love" and "Spider-Man"). For those who are not familiar with Ralston's story, he was the mountaineer who gained the public's attention after amputating his lower right arm with a dull knife in May 2003 to free himself from a boulder which trapped him in a canyon. The amputation scene was said to be so realistic that some viewers literally fainted and collapsed in their seats.

Danny Boyle based his screenplay from Ralston's bestselling memoir, "Between a Rock and a Hard Place." After reading the book, he immediately wanted to bring the audience to the canyon where Ralston overcame the greatest challenge in his mountaineering life. Moreover, he wants the audience be inspired of Ralston's journey. He wants moviegoers to realize that Ralston wasn't really alone in the canyon during his entrapment. Spiritually, he was surrounded by family, friends, lovers, and acquaintances who he met before the accident. Remembering them throughout his ordeal gave him the courage to keep going.

Aside from being recognized by the Academy Awards, "127 Hours" received favorable reviews from movie critics. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 94% positive review while Metacritic gave it 82%. So, are you ready to collapse? “127 Hours” opens February 9 in theaters from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

Did 'Toy Story 3' make you cry?

The reason I am asking this is because I have finally convinced my husband to watch the movie with me and my son later this afternoon. It's the hub's birthday, by the way. My blogger friends are raving about it and even the guys said that the movie made them cry.

Is it even possible that an animated movie about toys can make adult moviegoers cry? It makes me the more excited to see the movie! Will post an update and my own review about it soon.

"THIS IS IT" Showed Me The Michael Jackson I Never Knew

Of course, I did not let yesterday pass without me and my boy watching "This Is It", the film that showed the behind-the-scenes footage of what could've been Michael Jackson's comeback concert. Yesterday was my youngest brother's birthday so he and my sister also watched the movie with us. We watched it at SM Taytay and we were surprised to get mini posters. The mini posters were supposed to be given to early ticket buyers but I guess they still had more to spare.

"This Is It" showed me the Michael Jackson I never knew. After his death, I read so many things about how good this man is but it is really different when you see him actually showing the goodness in his heart.

Here are some things that I recently discovered about the King of Pop:
  • He's one God-fearing man. With everything he said to his concert crew, he ended it with a meaningful "God bless you." And I felt that he meant it every single time.

  • He loved his family so much. He was supposed to perform "I'll Be There" during the concert and, during the rehearsals, he told his musical director to stop for a moment before the song ends. Then he enumerated all his brothers' names and his parents' names as well and said "I love you."

  • He's a hands-on artist. From the choosing of the dancers to the production of the computer graphics for his backdrops, he was always checking that everything was perfect.

  • He's a musical genius. While rehearsing the jazzy version of "The Way You Make Me Feel", he instructed the musical director to play it like "dragging yourself out of bed" and it took so many repeats before his musical director got it right. Then, the musical director told him that he should do the sound check every time because he can't always know the kind of sound MJ liked. Honestly, I didn't even notice the difference between what the musical director was playing and what MJ wanted. But he heard it, even when the difference in the tempo was so minute. He's a perfectionist because, as he told the musical director, they had to give the fans the music that they heard in his records. That's how dedicated he is to his craft and his fans.

  • He didn't want to have the limelight all to himself. He made sure that the dancers were given time to show off what they got. He gave his pretty lead guitarist her "time to shine". He's also generous in giving praises to everyone.
Suddenly, I felt sorry that he has passed away before the concert even happened. It would have been a huge one. The concert would have shown a new twist to the music videos of "Thriller" and "Smooth Criminal". Truly, one for the books.

I still can't believe that he's gone. He was as healthy as a bull during the rehearsals! He was even slamming his body on the floor during one dance routine. What could have gone wrong? To think that the rehearsals were done during the spring, three months before his death.

I resisted the urge to give an applause every time Michael Jackson ended a song or a dance routine. I almost forgot that I was in a movie house! Still, I was discreetly grooving to the music and tapping my feet. Don't expect the movie to be something like a concert, though. It just shows bits and pieces of what could've been his grandest comeback. I also resisted the urge to cry especially when he sang "Man in The Mirror" and when he spoke about taking care of the Earth and that we're losing time to save it. The world really lost a good man.

Ok, I hope I didn't give too much away. Head on to the theaters because "This Is It" will be on for only two weeks. Enjoy and let MJ relive his music and his magic.

SIDENOTE: I found it a little annoying that a memorial plan company was giving out leaflets yesterday outside the theater. Duh, we all know MJ's dead and they are only adding to the morbid feeling of that fact! Not to mention that it's just a few days before Halloween. My sister found it funny, I didn't. If they have given life insurance quote leaflets I would have probably gotten one for myself. Oh well, I guess they're just doing their jobs and the cinema administrators allowed them to be there in the first place.

Flash of Genius

One of the most common parts of automobiles are windshield wipers. Today's cars cannot do without a windshield wiper - not to mention that they now function at variable speeds. Do you know that back in the 1960s, windshield wipers function manually, meaning the driver has to click it on everytime to get rid of the pouring rain blocking his view? This was all before Bob Kearns, the inventor of the intermittent windshield wiper, had his flash of genius in 1967 and came up with his "Kearns Blinking Eye Windshield Wiper".

I would never have placed so much thought on my car's windshield wiper until I came to watch this movie. "Flash of Genius" is the story about Bob Kearns (played by Greg Kinnear) and his 12-year battle with Ford Motors for the right to be known as the inventor of the intermittent windshield wiper. He defended himself, with the help of his children, in court to prove that Ford Motors has used his invention and failed to give him the rightful credit. He was awarded $10 million dollars in winning the case against Ford Motors and another million dollars against Chrysler.

Let's admit it, being consumers, we oftentimes fail to appreciate the little mechanisms that make our big appliances and machines work. We fail to recognize the time and effort devoted by most unknown and underappreciated inventors who just wanted to make life better for all of us. We often just appraise the brand and never the people behind them. This movie got me think about the geniuses that we often take for granted. As a teacher, I think I should start knowing more and spreading the word about them.

As I am writing this, I look at my watch and wonder whoever started making them and find out that Hamilton watches are the first ones to run on batteries. I am now ending this post since I have to research more on who's flash of genius this might be. You better start looking around and doing your own little researches too.

Never Leave Your Partner Behind

This is a rule of thumb among firemen. Never leave your partner behind, especially during a fire. Never in my wildest thoughts that you can use the same mantra in a marriage. People nowadays look upon the sacrament of marriage as just a contract between the husband and the wife. Only a few good couples look at it as covenant between them and God. Fireproof is a movie that made me remember that God really is a part of our marriage. I feel that it is fitting for my first post for "The Love Month" to be about fireproofing a marriage.

The movie is about a young couple, Caleb and Catherine, with a marriage on the rocks. They both wanted to get a divorce but the Caleb's father took some time to talk to him and gave him the "Love Dare" to save their marriage. The "Love Dare" consisted of loving acts that he would need to do for forty days for his wife. Each page was lovingly written (in the dad's own writing) for his son to enlighten him in not only winning back the love of his wife but also to recognize his need for bringing God inside their marriage.

The 40-day love dare reminded me so much of "A Purpose Driven Life". Both are journeys taken a day at a time with God. The only difference is that the Love Dare focuses on fireproofing a marriage. It was really a very wise thing for the producers of the movie to make an analogy between fires and temptations in marriages. You see, Caleb's best friend in the movie told him that being fireproof does not mean avoiding a fire. It just means that something that is fireproof can withstand a fire. It just works out the same with marriages. A marriage is always tested with many temptations. In the movie, some of the temptations were anger, selfishness, disrespect, and lust. For a marriage to be fireproof, which means to be temptation free, God has to be in the center of the relationship.

I do not want to be much of a spoiler because I really want you to have the same experience of being touched by this movie. It is not yet available in the Philippines but you can purchase it online through Ebay. I guess it will be available in Christian book stores and DVD stores soon.

Casino Royale

Rap had football practice yesterday and since it was also Daddyjun's rest day, I obliged him to go to school with us. We had less than four hours to kill before Rap finished his class and we decided to watch Casino Royale. We weren't planning on watching that movie but it was that or "Wag Kang Lilingon". Between the two, Casino Royale was more worth the 110 bucks.

I'm not really a huge 007 fan. Ate France was the one who introduced me to Ian Fleming's gorgeous killing machine. I think I've watched only three or four Bond movies in the past. I would say that Daniel Craig would be the most "human" James Bond I've ever seen.

Bond is shown in Casino Royale as a spy struggling on his first mission. The flick showed Bond's soft side with long romantic scenes with Vesper Lynd. Bond also gets battered all throughout the film. Not to mention the "testes whacking" torture scene. Bond was also shown making mistakes in judgement during the poker game with his target Le Chiffre. I enjoyed the movie because I've seen a realistic James Bond. He really got beaten up and dirty. In the past Bond flicks I've seen, Pierce Brosnan still looked handsome and slick even after having a brawl. With Daniel Craig's Bond, maaawa ka talaga! Before the movie was shown, critics have written about him being not so handsome enough to be James Bond. I beg to disagree. His puppy eyes just made my heart melt!

No fancy gadgets were introduced in the movie. It somehow disappointed me since I was looking forward to the new gadgets that they will assign to the new 007. The OST was totally forgettable too. I would have loved another female diva sing the latest offering's OST.

Daniel Craig will be back I'm sure. The movie ended with him as a cold-hearted James Bond who has learned his lesson during his first mission. He met with a Mr. White who got his hundred million dollar winnings from Casino Royale.
