Photo Hunt: Lock

These are the locks that guarded my precious thoughts long before blogging began. I kept them all these years. Countless sibling wars happened back in the days when our brothers would raid the hiding places where I and my sister kept our diaries. Oh, what a riot it was! I am glad how this tag brought back the funny and trivial fights we had over these diaries.

Ruby Tuesday: Red Palm Prints

For my first Ruby Tuesday entry, I am sharing these red palm prints that I found when we visited the Kamay ni Hesus Healing Shrine in Lucban, Quezon. We were on our way home from our Lenten vacation in Naga City. We chose to take the other route going home so we were able to pass by some interesting spots. One of these is the healing shrine. It was a Black Saturday and, surprisingly, pilgrims still crowded the place. I have posted an entry about this in my travel blog.
I found these red palm prints within the shrine's Marian Park. These are the palm prints of the pilgrims who had their prayers granted after visiting the shrine.

Penmanship Tag

I was tagged by iMom!
Here are the rules of this tag:
1. Write down who tagged you.
2. Answer these:
-your name / username / pseudo
-right-handed or left-handed?
-your favorite letters to write?
-your least favorite letters to write?
- Write “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.”
3. Tag five persons.
I have not been writing in cursive for the longest time. Probably, I got used to writing in print for my preschool students for a couple of years that I don't feel comfortable writing in cursive anymore. I really wish I was a leftie because most lefties I know have nice penmanship.
I hope Ibyang, Jennie, Toni, Rachel, and Liz have fun doing this tag as I did!

Thankful Thursday 2009 #1
This is my first Thankful Thursday post for the year. I was not able to post one during the New Year.

This week I am thankful...
Writing all of these made me realize how blessed I am after all. How about you? What are you thankful for this week? Write about them by joining this meme.

This week I am thankful...
That my father is recovering from his recent stroke attack. His left side is still paralyzed but we are optimistic that he will be able to move again with the help of therapy.
For my mother's unwavering faith and patience that we will overcome all this in God's time.
For the virtue of patience that God has blessed my brother with. I am praying for more blessings for him I pray that all the hurt and emotional sufferings he is experiencing now will make him a stronger person.
That my son is chosen to represent his class to a Math competition this Friday.
For the post Christmas gifts that I have received from my students.
For my husband who has always been generous and understanding.
Writing all of these made me realize how blessed I am after all. How about you? What are you thankful for this week? Write about them by joining this meme.

Fab Holiday Find #4: Gold

This is a gold plated bangle that I bought from my mom. She put up a garage sale in our family home after she did her general cleaning. I hid this bangle from everyone else because she only sold it for a hundred bucks. I don't have any idea yet when I'm gonna use it but I don't want to lose this great find!

... That my dad won Php 6k in the lotto draw and that made him very much
happy.
... For the mall-wide sale events where I was able to get my awesome gifts
for my loved ones

... That after all the Christmas shopping stress that my family has undergone this week, we are still feeling well and healthy.

Fab Holiday Find # 3: Silver

These pair of silver accessories are my silver fab finds for the week. I plan to wear them on Christmas Day. I found bought these accessories from two different tiangge stalls in EDSA Central. The silver star bangle was at Php 150 while the silver hoop earrings are at Php 100. The saleslady from the stall where I brought the bangle also gave me a small bag of cleaning powder. Oftentimes, I tend to be careful and picky in buying accessories especially earrings. There have been times when my ears got irritated with fancy accessories. But I already tried these silver earrings and I'm lucky that I did not get any allergic reaction.

Fab Holiday Find #2: White (and Blue!)

It's so hard to find something white in the items that I purchased during this shopping season! Aw man! I hope the FMB mommies will forgive me for this one! Babawi ako next week, I promise!
The next Christmas party that I will be attending this week is my husband's company Christmas party. The theme is Mardi Gras and, as expected, everyone should be in a colorful outfit for that night. I'm lucky that colorful pants and shirts are the in thing this season so I got myself an aqua blue pair of pants and a bright pink shirt.
While we were on the look out for my husband's attire at Robinson's Galleria, my husband was able to spot a rainbow colored hat and tie. I also spotted this furry baseball cap that I thought would look good with my outfit. I loved it the first time I saw it so I bought it even if it was priced at Php350. I thought it was cheap considering that the stall is inside Robinson's Galleria. The stall's name by the way is Rebel Gear. I can't remember where it's exact location is in the mall but it's like an alley of tiangges and small boutiques.

After the purchase, we moved on to the department store to find a suitable bright colored shirt that will go with my husband's hat and tie. He wore his cap and tie with the shirt that he chose in the fitting room. He also tried my cap on and it was he who noticed the price tag on the cap. Clearly written on an orange sticker was Php 150! We rushed back to the stall to demand a refund of our Php 200. The saleslady initially did not want to give us back our money but I threatened her that I will report their store to DTI Consumer Watch if she still resists. My point is, if it's on the tag then surely it's the retail price! And besides, there was an orange colored cap of the same style that also has a Php 150 orange sticker on the tag. She did not have a choice but to return our excess payment back.
So that's the story of my fab holiday find for the week. A party cap for Php 150! I will post our pictures wearing our cute Mardi Gras attires soon!

Thankful Thursday # 1
Finally, I decided to join the Thankful Thursday meme.
I have always been grateful of what I have. Looking back, I have come a long way from the life I have known when I was younger. I know I cannot have all of these without the help of the One up above and of the people He used as instruments of His grace.
This week, I am thankful ...
... that my son is well and that today is his last day of medication for the viral infection that he got last week. I really feel bad when my son is not feeling well. I am also thankful that his teachers let him take the quizzes that he missed.
... that I had an extra day off last Monday from work since it was a holiday here in the Philippines. I used the day to tweak my sister's blog layout and to do some home cleaning as well.
... for the Christmas gifts that we have started to receive this early from friends and relatives and from my husband's company.
... for my cousin who gave me a huge discount on the fruitcakes and packs of food for the gods that I ordered from her.
... that I was able to finally finish the level in 7 Wonders of The Ancient World that I have been playing on the PSP since August! Wee!
... that my husband and son comes home safe and sound.

My Fab Holiday Find For The Week # 1

This is a holiday meme hosted by The Filipino Mom Blog. Yes, the Christmas season is officially here. Of course, shopping is inevitable during the season of gift-giving and moms all over are on the hunt for fabulous holiday finds.
Here are the mechanics of Fab Holiday Finds:
1.You shop for holiday finds - they could be decor, food, gifts, the clothes you got on 70% off. You can also share about a certain shop or bazaar that simply dazzled.
2. To make it more interesting, let’s do a “colors of Christmas” theme per week. But to give everyone more time to prepare, week 1 won’t have a specific color theme.
- Week 1: any color
- Week 2: White
- Week 3: Silver
- Week 4: Gold
- Week 5: Red and Green
3. Post photos on your blog. Don’t forget crucial information such as where and how much. Grab the badge above if you please.
4. Drop a comment on the round-up post here on FMB, so we can link back and visit you. As with the Lunch Box Meme, we’re doing this every Tuesday this month.
I'm glad that the a specific color isn't required for the first week. Thus, I am sharing my fab find for myself: a new pair Reebok rubber shoes! I was scouting for new shoes that I can use for the gym. Luckily, I received an invite from BPI about their Big Outlet Sale that was held at the Megatent (beside DepEd along Meralco Ave. Pasig) last Nov 21-23. I noticed that weekend that there were a lot of events around the Metro encouraging people to shop till they drop. I am not really a fan of sale events but I go to one when I am on the hunt for something.
The products that were on sale during the event were well known brands like Nike, Puma, Adidas, Marks and Spencer, Apple, Abenson, Olympus, and others from specialty shops. Items went for as low as 70% so we really rushed to the place after fetching Rap from his Math training session at Poveda.
I got the shoes for only Php 1,300 when the original price is Php 3,195! So that meant I got around 60% off! Now that's what I call a fab find!
