Thankful Thursday: Truly In God's Time

Another milestone has happened this week. My dad, who had a stroke in December 22 last year, started to walk on his own last Saturday. I am truly thankful to the Lord for helping him recover. I know that he will walk again in God's time. I already blogged about how thankful I was that he survived the stroke and when he was able to sit up with the help of my mom and brothers. I am thankful that I was there to see him walk for the first time, after two months of being bed-ridden and paralyzed.

My mother was attending a spiritual retreat over the weekend that was why I had to go to my parents' house last Saturday to take over. I brought my dad some breakfast and even brought my son along to cheer him up a little. True enough, when we arrived, he was crying his heart out because he misses his grandchildren. How I wish my nephew could come visit him soon. After he had eaten his breakfast (he fed himself, thank God!) and I gave him his medications, he told me how he felt while watching 700 Club on TV the night before. Then, he said that he thinks he can make himself stand up and he did after a while. He was wobbling a little so I told him to take it a little easy. I needed to go out to the garage to check on something but when I came back, he was already walking towards me, out of the front door and towards the gate. He was supporting himself with one crutch that he slipped under his right underarm. Apparently, he asked my son to give him the crutch that he uses whenever he has his arthritis attacks. He went out of the front gate and sat by the mango tree in front of the house.

I am also thankful that our neighbors who saw him already sitting outside the gate approached him and were also happy for him. It surely made him feel a lot better and I felt so happy seeing him laugh and exchange jokes with his friends again. God is really good. Truly, everything was resolved in God's time.

Thankful Thursday 2009 #3

This week has been another one of those weeks that just passed by without me noticing it. Time flew fast for me lately. I guess I was just too busy.

Still, I will never forget to thank My Lord for the wonderful week that was. Today I am especially thankful that my dad is finally sitting up with help from my mom and brother. Yesterday, I saw him already sitting on a couch in the garage. At least he finally had a few hours outside the house, his first in a month. Yes, it's exactly a month when he had his stroke. I know he's feeling better now. I also know that he's praying that God will heal him in His time. He even told me that he promised the Lord that we will sing as a family in the church choir once he gets better.

Thankful Thursday 2009 #2

This day, I am especially thankful to The One Up Above for giving me a very precious gift, that is my husband. Today, at exactly the time while I write this post, we are celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary.

It sure doesn't feel like that long. Mostly, nothing has changed. Every single day has been a joyride, a testimony to how God has blessed be with such a wonderful partner in life.

How about you? What are you thankful for today?

Thankful Thursday 2009 #1

This is my first Thankful Thursday post for the year. I was not able to post one during the New Year.

This week I am thankful...

That my father is recovering from his recent stroke attack. His left side is still paralyzed but we are optimistic that he will be able to move again with the help of therapy.

For my mother's unwavering faith and patience that we will overcome all this in God's time.

For the virtue of patience that God has blessed my brother with. I am praying for more blessings for him I pray that all the hurt and emotional sufferings he is experiencing now will make him a stronger person.

That my son is chosen to represent his class to a Math competition this Friday.

For the post Christmas gifts that I have received from my students.

For my husband who has always been generous and understanding.

Writing all of these made me realize how blessed I am after all. How about you? What are you thankful for this week? Write about them by joining this meme.

Thankful Thursday #2

This week has been a very tiring one because of all the weekend shopping and my son's exam week. But then, there are still a lot of things in my life to be thankful for so I don't really mind the stress.

This week, I am thankful ...

... that we finally take the car home from the service center after repairs have been done. I am also thankful that we did not have to shell out even a single cent because the warranty all expenses.

... for the Christmas parties that my husband's company gave out and will be giving out within this week. We really had a good time. Ralph loved the toy that Santa gave him. We are thankful we are living the Coke Life!

... that my teaching schedule this week was adjusted that I was able to teach Ralph for his exams.

... for the quiet nights I spent with my husband in our veranda.

Thankful Thursday # 1

Finally, I decided to join the Thankful Thursday meme.

I have always been grateful of what I have. Looking back, I have come a long way from the life I have known when I was younger. I know I cannot have all of these without the help of the One up above and of the people He used as instruments of His grace.

This week, I am thankful ...

... that my son is well and that today is his last day of medication for the viral infection that he got last week. I really feel bad when my son is not feeling well. I am also thankful that his teachers let him take the quizzes that he missed.

... that I had an extra day off last Monday from work since it was a holiday here in the Philippines. I used the day to tweak my sister's blog layout and to do some home cleaning as well.

... for the Christmas gifts that we have started to receive this early from friends and relatives and from my husband's company.

... for my cousin who gave me a huge discount on the fruitcakes and packs of food for the gods that I ordered from her.

... that I was able to finally finish the level in 7 Wonders of The Ancient World that I have been playing on the PSP since August! Wee!

... that my husband and son comes home safe and sound.
