The year 2010 became the busiest year for me as I juggled three online writing projects with what's left of my time. I was so busy that I did not find time to go back to my doctors. For almost a year, I was able to survive without my doctors. Before November ended, however, I finally found the time to make a visit. Along with the routine tests that consultations I had was a hormone therapy that will help bring my period back.
Having polycystic ovaries for more than a decade now, I have gotten used to the fact that my menstrual periods will never be regular. I have also gotten used to telling people that it's the reason why my boy is an only child. My new OB-Gyne has given me Provera which I took for 5 days to induce my period. Then, I was advised a pill of Clomid for 5 days starting on the 2nd day of my period to induce ovulation.
Well, I'm now on my 4th day and I'm finally reaping the consequences of not going to the doctor. I have cramps that are so painful I just want to sleep. Believe me, menstrual cramps like these are more powerful that the most effective diet pill in the world. I just want to sleep and wake up when it's all over.
I'm almost done with Clomid. Hopefully, we'll finally have our second child. Wish me luck!

Have you tried the new KFC Doubledown Sandwich? Well, technically, it's not a sandwich because there's no bun. It's made bacon strips, cheese, and mayonnaise sandwiched between two original recipe chicken fillets. It's pure protein overload but totally fatty, if you ask me.
I think I might need a colon cleansing diet after having a fill of this sinful treat. I found it better to eat as a meal with rice and gravy, haha! For a hundred bucks, it's worth the try. But no, I think I will not have another bite of this "sandwich."
There's a new addition to my list of health woes - my right thyroid gland. As per my last health check-up, my right thyroid gland is slightly larger than normal. I still have more tests to undergo which includes a creatinine test (again), a test that will check my thyroid's function, and another batch of blood tests. I'm just finishing this batch of meds then I'm gonna schedule my next batch of laboratory tests.
My enlarged thyroid gland isn't that noticeable and I thank the heavens for that. But since I've become conscious about it, I started let my hair cover the right side of my neck. I also suspect that this has something to do with the white patches I saw on the same spot a few months back. My doctor's not convinced, though. I've been reading a lot about hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, and Grave's disease and I think that I should prepare myself for my raging hormones. I just wish that I wouldn't have body acne and resort to body acne treatment because there's still lots of maintenance meds I'm taking daily.
First, it was my kidney. Then, my liver. This time's my right thyroid gland. Who knows what's next. I pray for healing. Dear God, help me.

It's less than a month before Christmas, have you started planning your Noche Buena feast? Of course, the Filipino Christmas feast is never complete without hamon. It's always paired with keso de bola and wine in our family. Thus, it's non-negotiable. There should always be ham on our Noche Buena table. This Christmas, we're having Holiday Ham.
Here are three things which make this ham the best among the rest.
First is that the Holiday Ham is made from one whole boneless meat from the hind leg which is the best cut of pork for hams. Hind leg ham is tastier and meatier compared to the more common shaped hams. Shaped hams are already processed and although brands would use meat from the other parts of the pork, nothing can beat the goodness found only on the hind leg of pork.
Second, the Holiday Ham is a high-quality smoked ham. The net marks attests to that. Only whole-meat hams can be smoked in ham nets because if it isn’t, pieces would fall off.
Lastly, Holiday Ham has no extenders. The appearance, taste and texture tell the truth. The ham is meat, juicy, and flavorful, that makes me convinced that I really got the best value for my money.
During the product launch last November 20, 2010, Chef Rob Pengson prepared a simple but tasteful dish combining the cut ham with salad greens.
Yummy and healthy, don't you think? I'll just copy this for our Noche Buena feast, LOL!
Learn more about Holiday Ham on http://holidayham.com.ph and register for the chance to win an Apple iPad! Registration will only be until December 20, 2010. You can also ‘Like’ the Holiday Ham page on Facebook.
Look at my business card below and tell me what you think. Does it look like I own a flower shop?
Wala lang. I would just like to hear your honest opinion. I gave business cards during an alumni meeting and two schoolmates (who are as old as my father, by the way) asked me if I own a flower shop business. I found it funny. Was it because my last name is Flores and, without the eyeglasses, it appeared to be Flowers to them? Haha, Mauie's Flowers! Why not!
But seriously, I'm thinking of having a new set of business cards done. This time, it'll be less girly and more professional so I won't be mistaken as a flower shop owner again. I stumbled upon a site that does brochure printing and I might just ask for a quote for my new business card.
No one won tonight's 6/55 Grand Lotto jackpot. For those who don't know, the total jackpot reached more than 600 million pesos. The whole country is going gaga over this huge pot of money. One lawmaker has proposed to limit the jackpot to 500 million pesos only so as not to encourage gambling amongst the citizens. Experts have already spoken about how hard it is to get all numbers with only 1 in 29 million chances. Yet, I still see long lines of people queuing in front of lotto outlets.
Who'll blame them for taking this chance of a lifetime? Who'll blame me for hoping to win the prize? Yes, I also cast my bet. It would be my ticket to financial security. I can even provide for my parents and our other relatives. I can save enough money for my kid's future. We can invest in more stocks and assets. We can even have the grand Branson Missouri vacation we've been dreaming of.
Oh well, enough of this dreaming. It's time to cast my bet again and see if I'll get the jackpot this Saturday. ;-)

Are you familiar with Cyber Monday? I've written about Black Friday the other day and the two are entirely related. You see, Cyber Monday is the Monday that immediately follows Thanksgiving (after Black Friday) and it's known to be the busiest internet shopping day of the year!
I'm also scouting for great Cyber Monday deals on Buy.com. The husband is looking for an android phone. Meanwhile, our boy is still wishing for a Corby. I might buy them their gadgets should I find affordable deals this Cyber Monday. It would actually be my first time to shop this time of the year, just in case.

Alas, even with the numerous online and offline contests I have joined, I still haven't won an Apple iPad. It's not that I badly want one, but getting one as a prize would definitely be a bonus. However, some friends are telling us that it's better to wait for the 2nd generation iPad instead so there'll be better features minus the bugs. That's actually one reason why I am not buying one.
Want an Appple iPad? Here's one contest you can join. To make the holidays a cut above the rest, CDO Holiday Ham will be giving out an Apple iPad. Interested parties need only to register with their name, Facebook page URL, mobile phone number, and email address. It’s that easy! The registration is on the Holiday Ham website http://holidayham.com.ph/subpages/promo.aspx and is open until December 20, 2010.
CDO is really making people happy this Christmas. In fact, 3 bloggers now have new ipods because they gave them away last Saturday during the press launch. I'll be writing more of the product soon. In the meantime, let's go and join the Apple iPad promo!
As my friends in the States would say, "It's not only the turkey that's great on Thanksgiving..." It's the Black Friday sale that follows, haha! So what are you eyeing for this Black Friday? Have you started scouting for great shopping finds, yet?
Black Friday, sometimes called Green Friday, is the Friday that immediately follows Thanksgiving in the United States. It is also the time of the year when merchants come up with special sales and promos both in-store and online.
Although we do not have one here in the country, I am still scouting online for the best deals and just it shipped over to me. Wish me luck on my Black Friday shopping hunt!

It's always been bothersome for me to give my friends and relatives directions going to our place. Our home, you see, is built in a relatively new village which was once a huge industrial factory. We have been living here for 3 three years already and the streets still have no name. So, up to now, we only have our lot and block numbers in our address.
I am seriously thinking of having an address sign installed on our gate even with just the block and lot numbers on it. I can imagine how convenient it can be not only for the pizza delivery guy but also for me (so I can stop saying green gate, green house, two cars...), LOL! I am not even dreaming of one like the ornate home address plaques I saw in Ayala Alabang Village before. Just a simple address plaque will do.
Can you recommend any affordable supplier? I don't want to buy the ones available in the market because I still want ours to be custom-made.

I've had weight issues since I was a teenager. I was never active in sports because I was always tired. Even walking a kilometer to and from school every day did not help in giving me my ideal weight. Since I was still uneducated of my condition back then, I was easily convinced into taking in diet pills to lose the unwanted pounds. In high school, I took phentermine. Some of my friends were taking it. It did not only help me lose weight but it also help keep me awake during the nights that I needed to study.
When I stopped taking it, the unwanted pounds did not only come back but it also doubled. To answer the question: "do diet pills work, I say YES. Yes, they do but you have to be prepared for the consequences. Diet pills seem to be the easiest way to lose weight but it still takes dedication to keeping the pounds off after the pill.

Last Sunday, I had a huge tummy ache that made me feverish and nauseous the whole night. I felt the pain on the right lower quadrant of my abdomen and it was impossible for me to sit up straight or lie down comfortably. My doctor had my urine and blood tested and it showed that I have an infection. I also had my kidneys checked and I am still waiting for the ultrasound results as of the moment.
Once again, the results showed protein in my urine. I'm hoping that it's just one of the urinary tract infections I get ever so often. The doc is ruling out appendicitis, too. For the meantime, she had me take 500 milligrams of Levofloxacin once a day for 7 days. She said that it's a strong antibiotic that will cure the infection right away. Well, it should be effective because it's SO EXPENSIVE! Unfortunately, I paid for the meds this time because I already reached the limit of my health insurance. Now, instead of buying one, I will just admire the contemporary coffee tables in Mandaue Foam Center and wish the one I'm eyeing will still be there by January. Sigh!

D-blog Day was started on November 9th 2005 during Diabetes Awareness Month, to help unite diabetes bloggers and create awareness about diabetes.
This is the first year I'm joining this campaign and these are the 6 things I want people to know about diabetes:
There are two types of diabetes: Type 1 and Type 2. I have the 2nd type so I get by with just oral diabetic meds. I don't need to pump insulin unlike a cousin of mine who has Type 1.
Diabetes is not a disability. We are normal people who can also do things that non-diabetics can do. We may need a few adjustments and improvisations here and there but we get the job done.
Not all diabetics are overweight. I have already encountered people telling me, "mataba ka kasi ("you're fat, that's why") when I tell them that I have diabetes. Yes, obesity is a risk factor of diabetes but even thin people can get it. In fact, weight loss can be one of the symptoms of diabetes.
Diabetics can still have sugar. My life may be sugar free most of the time but I keep candies in my bag for emergency hypoglycemic episodes.
Diabetics don't need special food. We just follow a healthy meal plan which should also be done even by non-diabetics. I'm always asked about this every time I attend a party or an event.
It takes commitment and dedication to stay well when you're a diabetic. Then again, I forgive myself at times when I eat what I can't or when I don't exercise. I'm just human and I'm not perfect.
On a random note, did you know that 250 is the official medical coding number for diabetes?
Five more days till World Diabetes Day. Please view this video and help provide life-saving diabetes medication and supplies to children in developing countries.. :)
World Diabetes Day will be observed on 14 November 2010. Once again, the International Diabetes Federation spreads awareness about diabetes and asks everyone to take control of this life-changing condition.
Part of this year's activities is a fund-raising for the International Diabetes Federation's Life for a Child Programme and Insulin for Life, two global initiatives that provide life-saving diabetes medication and supplies to children in developing countries. You can help by watching the video. One view = donation. Diabetes Hands Foundation, a World Diabetes Day Champion, is aiming for a minimum of 100,000 views. You can also donate money via Google Checkout.
Please help us spread the word! Thank you in behalf of all the diabetics in the world!
